Gettin' the Most from Your Gear

Sharp P10-XU Video Projector

 A/V PRODUCTION SERVICES

Set up & Operation:

Follow these video projection tips and guidelines is you want your presentation to succeed.
  1. Please do not leave the projector lamp on when the projector is not in use except for brief times
for testing or previewing the program.  Here's why-the lamp costs $500+ and only has a certain
"lifespan" which is measured in hours.  Fortunately us humans have life spans measured in
       years/decades.
  2.  Always, always, (every time forever) set up and test the equipment in the exact same location
you will be using it for your "premiere" before any guests arrive.
  3.  Keep the projector locked up and out of sight whenever it is being stored or transported.
  4.  Don't even think of setting any liquids/drinks on the projector.  Hopefully you wouldn't anyway
but I'm covering all the bases here.  If you're using the projector outside water of any kind  will
       damage the illuminated bulb instantly.
  5.  Please tell me if you are going to use the screen and/or projector outside before you pick up
       the gear.
  6.  The darker your room/setting the brighter (and better) the projected image.
  7.  If there is a good sound system set up at your event by a DJ or sound company you can take
advantage of their "big sound" for your presentation by running the supplied 50' RCA-to-1/4"
audio cable directly from the VCR into their sound board.  If they don't know how to do this you
just hired the wrong DJ or sound company.
  8.  Call me with any questions or problems.  215-723-6133 (studio) or 267-625-3661(cell).

Setting Up:
1.  Use a flat, stable stand or table to support the video projector.
2.  Tape down any wires which people (especially kids) will need to walk over.
3.  Position the projector perpendicular to the screen (& centered).
4.  Mount the speaker on the speaker stand and position it in the center of the screen facing the
audience (but you already knew it should be facing the audience didn't you?)
5.  Connect the video cable from the video out of the VCR to the video in connector on the rear of the
video projector.  Use the S-Video connection (and S-Video cable supplied with the projector)
instead of the RCA/Composite (yellow) video input connection if you are using a playback unit
(camcorder or VCR) with S-Video output connection.  The S-Video connection/cable will give you
      a noticeably improved picture.
6.  For direct computer hook up connect the computer to the projector using the supplied VGA (also
called RGB) cable from the computer's external monitor jack to one of the projectors VGA inputs.
Two computers can be hooked up simultaneously to the projector.  Use the "INPUT" button to
switch back and forth between any and all copm
6.  Connect the 50' RCA-to-1/4" audio cable (supplied) to the VCR audio output jacks (RCA jack) and
to the speakers input jack (1/4" phone jack).  If your VCR is has stereo (Left and Right) audio
jacks use  the supplied mono-to-stereo adaptor in between the VCR and the 50' RCA-to-1/4"
      audio cable.

Operation:
1.  Power up the video projector by pushing the "Power" button on the remote or on top of the unit.
(note: Nearly every feature/function can be controlled with the remote or using the buttons on top
of the projector.  I'll assume your using the remote because here in America we are addicted to
"remote possibilities".  The projector only needs a minute or two to reach full brightness.
2.  To focus the image push the "LENSE" button once.  The word "FOCUS" will appear on the
screen.  Use the left and right arrow keys to focus the image/text.
3.  To zoom the image in and out push the "LENSE" button twice (or once if your still in the "FOCUS"
mode.  You guessed it, use those handy left and right arrow keys to zoom the image in and out.
4.  The pictures color, contrast, tint and brightness can all be adjusted with the on-screen menu
but you shouldn't need to make any of these adjustments unless you want to.  Push the "MENU"
button to access the on-screen menu features/functions.

If you have any questions about the many other features and functions this projection system is capable of give me a call.  Or you can check the Operations Manual in the storage case.
